OVERDUE Print Issue #004 ‘Film’

At a time when we are finding ourselves in front of the screen more than ever, it felt apt to bring you our fourth issue based on a subject very close to our hearts at OVERDUE – film.

Film transports us into another world, a world dictated by art and sensory involvement. It evokes emotion through colour, landscape, a glance – each frame becoming a painting in itself. On the rare occasion I find myself having time to enjoy a cinematic experience, I have always ensured it is one of meaning; a film that expresses art through the director’s eye. It was a natural progression to explore our team’s love of film, and to share our admiration of the truly great creators of moving image.

Film references have been commonplace within all of our stories since our debut. However, it was important to me that we challenged ourselves further with this issue. We sought out obscure, lesser-known films and arthouse creations, rather than cult Hollywood blockbusters. Late last year, I gave each of our team 28 films to watch over the Christmas period – films I have loved, watched numerous times, referenced and wanted to bring to our forthcoming issue. I’m pleased to say that they all rose to the challenge.

OVERDUE has grown tremendously through our Creative Director, Tess Savina and our Fashion Director, Natalie Yuksel. With astonishingly talented teams curated by the aforementioned, this issue shines brighter than ever. It also brought me the opportunity to shoot in Paris, something I have been longing to do for some time. For a week I held back tears resulting from the beauty of my surroundings, and my sheer joy in taking a trip that resulted in two dream editorials. My heart still remains in Paris – a journey I will remember forever.

With every issue I am more and more indebted to our awe-inspiring team for bringing our vision to life, and this one is no exception. With our recent growth, our expansion in Paris and the ever-growing talents, brands and incredible imagery, I have never been prouder of our team. As always with every issue we create, I am eternally grateful. Thank you all so much.
