Eyes Speak Louder

Having rounded up all my favourite products, I present to OVERDUE’s readers the ultimate guide to dress up your eyes.

Words Lilly Delmage

How can we elevate our favourite fashion staples, you may ask? It’s time to accessorise with your eyes, and these are all my, tried and tested, products guaranteed to make others take a second take.

Uklash Eyelash Serum

Labelled by my lash-tech as having eyelashes, “in the worst condition she had ever seen in [her] whole career”, this kick-started my eyelash growth journey.

Eyelash serums are no newcomer to the beauty industry and have created quite the impact. Impressive ‘before and after’ photos of using the products have left beauty fanatics boding the question – do they really work? Well, I’m here as proof to show they do.

I took a chance on the Uklash Eyelash Serum, and I have never been happier I did. The process is incredibly simple. After taking off makeup with an oil-free remover, just glide the applicator along each lash line once, as if applying an eyeliner. Repeat this once daily, for a total of 12 weeks.

In my experience, after four weeks I started seeing a considerable difference, noticing a fuller and darker appearance. At around six weeks the length became more visible, and when used in addition to my mascara (keep reading for that one), I started receiving compliments on my eyelashes. After the twelve-week mark, my natural lashes are now unrecognisable, and I often get comments asking if they are false.

L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Mascara

An oldie, but a goodie. Promising, “a lengthening false lash effect”, this mascara lives up to the claim and is definitely a worthy contender if looking for a quicker solution to long lashes. Though, I have found the mascara is also buildable, so if you are looking for a lengthening and volumizing product, this is a two in one. Because who has room in their bag for multiple mascaras?

If you are anything like me, and fear returning from a celebration with black, mascara circles under my eyes, I can assure you this formula does not budge. So, you can party with confidence all night long. The water-proof version is also a contender if you are predisposed to a tear or two after a prosecco.

Natasha Denona Mini Glam Palette 4G

There is nothing I love more than a multi-functional beauty product, and with this product there’s no need to juggle multiple products. Just use these two tricks:

  • Eyeshadow as eyeliner

Swapping out your jet-black, pen eyeliner for a sultry brown eyeshadow substitute is the way to go this winter. Just take any angled eyeliner brush, dip generously into the eyeshadow shade of your choice and glide along your lash line to carve out your desired wing – as you would a regular eyeliner. This method offers a smokier finish, as opposed to the harsher look of eyeliner. The shade ‘Anjo’ is my go-to for a more glam look as I love the metallic finish, but I also often opt for seed for a more natural effect.

  • Setting spray to intensify the metallics

This palette does metallics, and does metallics well. Offering three neutral, metallic shades guaranteed to compliment your favourite outfits, there will be no needs to reach for bulky palettes. To get the best pigment pay-off, spray the shade with a setting spray to intensify the colour further, and apply using your finger. Thank me later!

PIXI Beauty BeautifEYE Eye Patches Serum

My top-tip to save tired eyes are using these patches to “energise and awaken” the skin under your eyes. I am no stranger to dark circles peering through concealer, and thanks to added liquorice, Ginseng and Vitamin C, this serum helps to lift the darkness. It is best to save the smokiness for your lash line…
